   into Saturday morning.

 - Periods of light rain have a low-medium chance (20-40%) of
   occurring Sunday afternoon through Monday morning.

.NEAR TERM...
(Tonight)

Low level stratus clouds, which have been present across the
Tennessee Valley over the last 24 hrs, will continue to remain
entrenched through the evening. Based on satellite imagery, the
clearing line has been stationary across far northwest TN.
Afternoon temperatures so far have struggled to warm with 1pm
obs in the upper 30s across southern middle TN and lower 40s
across northern AL. This is 10 to 15 degrees below climatological
normals for this time of year. As we head into the evening and
overnight hours, expect temperatures to gradually drop into the
low to mid 30s. The biggest impact tonight will be the formation
of fog. While there is still some uncertainty in how widespread it
will be given the low stratus overhead, some reductions in
visibilities (as low as 2-4 miles) are forecast overnight. The
greatest concern in low visibility is in the terrain in northeast
AL where a combination of fog and low clouds may result in
visibilities dropping below 1 mile at times.

.SHORT TERM...
(Saturday through Monday)

Any fog that forms overnight will linger through the morning
hours, making any early morning travel hazardous. The center of
the weak surface high tracks closer to the TN Valley on Saturday,
so we anticipate cloud cover to finally break up in the afternoon.
Passing glimpses of the sun beforehand will allow high
temperatures to finally break the 50 degree mark with most seeing
highs in the low 50s. Should the cloud cover remain stubborn and
not erode, highs will again be capped to the mid to upper 40s.

A shortwave trough will ripple through the southwesterly flow
aloft and push yet another Gulf low through the region on Sunday.
After high temperatures reach the mid 50s in the afternoon,
areas of rain move in from the southwest in the evening (20-40%
chances). Fortunately, the cold air lags behind sufficiently that
we again avoid any impactful wintry precipitation. Lingering
shallow moisture on Monday may allow for brief flurries, but wind
gusts of 15-20 mph from the north will prevent any impactful
accumulation, should this unlikely scenario come to fruition.

(Sunday night through Thursday)

As this longwave trough axis pushes east and an attendant cold
front pushes into the area, some light showers will likely return
to the forecast. Expect the better chances of rain will be
mainly Sunday night into early Monday morning as longwave trough
axis moves through northern Alabama and southern middle Tennessee.
This should usher in some cooler air again early next week after
its associated cold front moves east of the area.

Light winds may allow lower visibilities to occur if CIGS can
lower more than expected overnight. However, more confident that
CIGS around 1000 feet or a bit higher will continue through the
overnight hours. Thus, for now left out any MVFR or lower VSBYS
reductions, but MVFR or lower CIGS will occur regardless through
the TAF period. There may be some clearing around or after 18Z
tomorrow, but will add to subsequent TAFs if that looks more
definite.
